Biographies
Mike Orlando is
an entrepreneur whose business interests range from
food processing to real estate development. He is
educated as a food scientist (BS in Food Science
and Technology from UC Davis).
Mike, along with
his brothers Peter and Steven, purchased Sunnyland
Mills in 1995. They took a successful company that
operated in a 1950's business style and modernized
it to bring it into compliance with current
business practices.
Mike Orlando's
Sicilian cultural roots demand an emphasis on food
as part of a healthy and lively lifestyle. He was
the first Chairman of the Whole Grains Council
(www.wholegrainscouncil.org). The Whole Grains
Council was formed to increase consumer
understanding of the value of whole grains in the
diet. His philanthropic efforts range from
fundraising for a San Diego high school for the
homeless to funding microenterprise community banks
in Latin America to provide credit for the poorest
of the poor.
Bobbi Martini
has been cooking for herself and her family and
friends for many years. Her main interest in
healthy food preparation began when she moved to
the San Diego area in the early 1970's. She was
particularly influenced by Southern California
mystique and vegetarianism. She drew from her 25
years of success with growing a woman's clothing
business, and her endless curiosity for learning
when she took on re-inventing new recipes for
bulgur wheat.
For healthy
living, Bobbi believes it's important to eat a
nutritious diet as well as get regular exercise.
She has been cooking with whole grains and bulgur
wheat for many years, and has recently focused on
developing some creative tasty Tabbouleh
dishes.
"I feel so lucky
to have the opportunity to share these Tabbouleh
recipes. It was fun developing a theme that used
some traditional Tabbouleh ingredients and add a
twist by incorporating ingredients authentic to a
specific country."
Bobbi is happily
married, lives in San Diego with her husband, and
enjoys spending time cooking for her
family.
We hope you
enjoy these creative dishes!
